Located in Salamanca Place, near Hobart’s waterfront, Salamanca Arts Centre houses a variety of artist studios, galleries, venues, retail outlets, arts organisations and public spaces. They display contemporary Tasmanian, national and international visual arts and design exhibitions at the Long Gallery. In the Sidespace gallery, there is an exhibition for professional artists to display their work. They host outdoor exhibitions at Kelly’s Garden, and if you’d like to watch some contemporary theatre, film and music then head to the Peacock Theatre. There’s a contemporary space called SOCIAL that frequently hosts exhibitions, workshops, artist talks and presentations. Every Friday evening there is live music in the Courtyard.
Situated on Hunter Street, close to the waterfront, Art Mob is home to authentic Aboriginal artworks where exhibitions change monthly. They display a variety of Aboriginal art pieces ranging from paintings, wooden sculptures, fabric, pottery and many more. All these pieces tell a story that connects to the artist. Wild Island is located in the heart of Hobart’s Salamanca Place.
